Buck's Horn Plantain is one of the tastier members of the plantain family, most of whom are edible to a lesser or greater degree....

Plantains are a familier sight and commonly grow pretty much anywhere, and this little wild plant will pay you back well for giving it a little TLC.

Buck's horn plantain is a native of coastline and harsh hillside. It is hardy and usually perennial, surviving our unpredictable climate well, but find it a sunny corner with a little shelter, and some good soil with plenty of organic matter and the leaves will be even more plump and delicious than they are naturally.

Available pretty much all year round they can by lightly cooked in stir frys or for greens, or added to the salad bowl, giving a mild, nutty flavour
