The igiri tree is a decorative, medium sized and unusual tree from China and Japan.

Large heart shaped leaves with tiny yellowy-green flowers in June that have a wonderful scent, the igiri tree grows well here requiring nothing special, though the new growth in the spring can be damaged by frost so shelter from the morning sun would be beneficial.

Indeed, it is happy in a semi-shaded spot and will produce many bright red pea-like fruit in the late summer, rather seedy but sweet.
